True or False: Psalm 23 says 'The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.'
Psalm 23:1
True — True! Psalm 23:1 is one of the most beloved verses in all of scripture. David, who was himself a shepherd, understood exactly what it meant to have someone watch over, protect, and provide for a flock. When he called the Lord his shepherd, he was saying that God cares for us with that same constant, tender attention.
You're going through the hardest time of your life — it feels like you're walking through a dark valley with no end in sight. What does the Psalmist say you should remember?
Psalm 23:4
Remember that God is with you and fear no evil — David didn't say we'd avoid dark valleys — he said we'd walk THROUGH them with God beside us. The shadow of death is still just a shadow when the Lord is your companion. His rod (for protection) and staff (for guidance) are always there.
This week covers Psalm 23:1, 22:16-18, 24:3-4, 8:4, 46:10, 19:1. Read the chapters at churchofjesuschrist.org.
